It's been so long since our last post! Hope everyone has been well! Lots has happened and I'm not sure of the best way to get caught up. Here's a summary of the last couple months: Riley and I were able to spend nearly two weeks back in NY at Grandma and Grandpa Watkins' house for Christmas. Here is a link to my mom's Christmas album. Lots of pics of Riley including our Christmas card "photo shoot": http://family.webshots.com/album/569645013JhMGXY In mid-January Grandma and Grandpa MacLachlan came to visit and to celebrate a late Christmas with us. We had a blast spending time together and were able to see each other again a couple weeks later in Tulsa, OK where we celebrated Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa Biedermann's 60th wedding anniversary. We were lucky enough to get more visitors last weekend when Aunt Sarah and Uncle Brad came into town. Sarah and I had a great time wedding dress shopping and we all enjoyed checking out Lawrence and the KU grad program there. (We're hoping Aunt Sarah gets accepted into the PhD program, so we'll have her and Uncle Brad close by!!) In between visits Riley has been keeping us busy and I've been chipping away on the flowers for Sarah and Brad's wedding. Once Riley gets over her obsession with cameras I hope to get more videos and pics for the blog again. There's going to be another Brad in the family! My middle sister Sarah got engaged to another great Brad this past weekend. Our Brad's have really bonded over the past few years over SEC football (Sarah's Brad played for Ole Miss) and their love for the New England Patriots and PBR. We're SO excited that he's OFFICIALLY going to become Uncle Brad.

We also want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy all the tryptophan and football!

Brad decided that Riley had to be a squirrel this year for Halloween. After some searching I opted to modify a skunk pattern to make her squirrel costume and I think it turned out pretty well. Of course, we had to choose a head to toe fur outfit for the year it was nearly 80 degrees on Halloween, but Riley was a good sport and we didn't keep her in the costume for too long. Sorry for the delay in posts. There has been so much excitement and fun this month! We were lucky enough to have tons and friends and family visit us for Riley's big first birthday. The day of her party was gorgeous (the 18th) and our friends and family really helped make it an extra special day. Her actual birthday (the 22nd) was a yucky day weather wise (just like the day she was born), but we still managed to have a great time celebrating with Daddy and Grandma Watkins. My youngest sister Lizzie is getting married to a great English guy named Phil today (Saturday, Oct. 11th). We can't be there to celebrate with them, but we will be thinking of them and sending them all of our love.

A couple days ago we picked up a shopping cart for Riley to practice her walking. She absolutely loves it though she spends more time dancing to the songs it plays rather than actually walking behind it. It's going to be tough for her to say goodbye to it for the weekend, but hopefully a Vols victory and a play date with her buddy Murphy will make up for it.

Riley and I head up to Michigan this afternoon in preparation for Aunt Megan's big wedding this weekend. Brad is going to join us Friday (the Chiefs have a preseason game tomorrow). We are very excited to see everyone on the MacLachlan side again and I'm excited that I finished the rest of the flowers in time (I've posted a few pics below). I'm not sure if we'll have time to post while we're at Grandma and Grandpa's house, so we want to send out early birthday wishes to our friend Brent (the 30th), Aunt Sarah (the 31st) and Riley's boyfriend Murphy (also the 31st). Hope everyone has a fun and safe Labor Day Weekend!!

Fall is just around the corner and we couldn't be more excited! We just picked up some ear muffs/head phones for Riley to wear to her first football games. She'll get to watch the Chiefs for the first time on Sept. 14th versus the Raiders and then she gets to cheer on the Vols against the Gators on Sept. 20th!! We can't wait to show her Neyland Stadium and to see some of our TN friends again.

Where Did the Last 9 Months Go?

Riley's first nine months sure went by fast! We just had her nine month doctor's visit and she's doing great, albeit a bit on the slender side (she's in the 75th percentile for height (28-1/4") and only the 20th percentile for weight (17 lb. 1 oz.). I guess that's what happens when you NEVER stop moving. Last week was nice and restful. Our friends Jeremy and Tammy invited us to their family's lake house over the weekend and we had a great time splashing around and riding in a boat for the first time. Here are some pictures from last week. Hopefully we'll get the pictures from the lake posted in a few days.

We had an amazing time over the 4th of July weekend down in Tulsa. Aunt Lynn was a fabulous hostess, as were her awesome pups Homer, Buddy & Sam. Riley and I were able to meet Great Grandma and Grandpa Biedermann for the first time and Riley swam in a big pool for the first time and watched her first fireworks display. We all loved all of the new "firsts" and couldn't believe how quickly the time passed. Today is our niece Skyler's 1st birthday! Unfortunately we couldn't make it up to Michigan for the big celebration. We can't wait to see her next month for Aunt Megan's wedding!

In other news, we just got back from a long weekend trip to Tulsa, OK. We had so much fun staying with Aunt Lynn and hanging out with Grandma and Grandpa B. Sorry for the long gap in posts. Miss Riley has been up to all sorts of fun things. We celebrated our first Mother's Day with a trip to Kauffman Stadium for Riley's first MLB game. Mother's Day weekend we also got to introduce Riley to her Aunt Lynn. It was a very quick visit, but we had such a great time! Riley is also really getting into scooting/creeping now. We already have our baby gates up!

We survived our first tornado scare last night. The tornado warning phase of the storm really wasn't that bad, it was the nasty thunderstorms that followed that were a little scary. We were so lucky to have Aunt Sarah visit us for a whole week! We had so much fun sightseeing and just hanging out. Riley also had her big 6 month doctor's visit. She's now tipping the scales at 15 lbs. 6 oz. (40th per.), measuring at 26 in. (60th per.) and is sporting a HUGE noggin' (90th per.). Riley was so brave while getting her shots, but had a tough time afterward. Luckily Aunt Sarah was here to help Riley feel better! We're going to miss Aunt Sarah this week, but can't wait to get her and Uncle Brad back out here soon!

The Nashville Predators are taking on the Detroit Red Wings in the first round of the NHL Playoffs. Riley's first sporting event (in my belly) was a Preds game. Unfortunately we forgot to pick up some baby Preds apparel before we left town, so we had to fashion a onesie out of old Preds shirts. Can you guess which shirt we cut up? Here are some cute pics of us watching game 5 together. Right now we are waiting for the overtime period to get started...Go Preds!

Sorry it has been so long since our last post. It has actually been a busy couple weeks for us. Last Monday through Thursday Brad attended the NFL League meetings out in San Francisco. His hotel was right next to were the Olympic torch was supposed to end up. While Daddy was away Riley and I attended infant massage classes at our library--so much fun! Riley really seems to enjoy it. We had a very low key weekend. Riley tried barley cereal for the first time and can't seem to get enough of it. The weather has been unpredictable all week, but we're supposed to get a few great days this weekend. Hopefully we'll be able to bust out some of Riley's super cute Spring/Summer outfits!

We're back in KC after a fun filled week on the East Coast. Today Riley tried solids for the first time. She did a great job, but was frustrated by how slow the whole process was. Grandma's Birthday Surprise

Riley, the Brads, Aunt Sarah and I secretly plotted a birthday surprise for Grandma Watkins for over two months and were able to pull it off successfully on Thursday. Riley and I flew into Boston Wednesday night and drove over to Syracuse Thursday morning with Aunt Sarah. We then surprised Grandma a work with Miss Riley and some pastries from Mike's. Grandma W. was SO excited to see her grandbaby and we were amazed that we were able to surprise Grandma for the first time ever.

The past week + has been pretty busy here in KC. Riley visited her Daddy at work again and printed her very first ticket. We've also become regulars at library Story Time AND we got to spend Easter weekend with Grandma and Grandpa Mac.

Yesterday was such a beautiful day here in KC--sunny and in the 70s. We went for a couple walks, attended story time at the library and brought our jumper to the back deck for some sun while we waited for Daddy to come home from work. We also have some pictures of Riley wear our favorite "bear suit" sleeper for the last time (it actually should have been retired weeks ago, but Daddy just couldn't let go).

Riley has been so bouncy and high energy lately that we decided to get her a new activity jumper. She passed out in the car on the way to the store and stayed asleep in the pony bouncer until it started to make loud galloping and whinnying noises. Her expressions were so priceless! In the end we ended up with the Baby Einstein which she is loving.

4 Months Old!

We can't believe that our little Riley Bean is already 4 months old! At her 4 month doctor's visit last Friday she registered in the 50th percentile for both her weight (13lb. 6oz.) and height (24-1/4") and in the 70th percentile for her noggin'. Shots are always tough, but she took them well and was only cranky on Saturday while she was running a fever. We were also fortunate enough to have Grandma Mac stay with us the past two weekends (the first on her way to Tulsa and second on her way back to MI). Here are some of our favorite shots from the past week and a half:

What an eventful first Christmas Riley had! After getting grounded in KC due to fog we decided to make the 12 hour drive to Michigan without the majority of our luggage (which sat in Milwaukee for 3 days).
